Everything changes when you are “sponsored in” by a friend. You don’t need a 10-year track record with this friend! If you’re willing to be honest, humble and vulnerable, it will quickly become obvious to others that you’re genuinely interested in a friendship. I’m not recommending “fake” nor “manipulative”. If you really don’t WANT a friend, then forget it! By all means just go it on your own, and resist your urge to play people! But haven’t you seen your need for a friend? For a ‘sponsor’? For an “interpreter of life”? Then dump your tendency to be independent and self-reliant, and get real: YOU NEED HELP! I find that people respond in kind: when I’m genuine; THEY are genuine (not always the case; but every time worth the risk).

Step 5: Subtract the last number from the first number, then spend half of the difference on a nice dinner with your friend.
